Atlanta Signs | Vehicle Graphics Removal is Like Exploring a Cave!

Any successful (aka – “alive”) cave explorer will tell you, “Never get yourself into something you can’t get out of.” The same holds true for vehicle graphics. Unless you are the world’s best clairvoyant, you’ll never know what the future holds for your business, brand, logo, location, or vehicle. You might just have to remove that gorgeous full vehicle wrap, that set of custom-designed decals, or the cut vinyl lettering you’ve had professionally applied to your vehicle.

What are sandblasted signs?

So the question is – what factors should you consider when contemplating a vehicle graphic removal? Let’s start with an understanding of the basics. Vehicle graphics are digitally produced color images printed on vinyl. They are applied to a vehicle using special adhesives and, when necessary, heat to make the vinyl stretch over the vehicle’s irregular contours.

Removing vinyl pieces is an art unto itself because it requires a sufficient amount of heat to make the vinyl peel away, but not so much heat that it becomes sticky and harder to remove. You should definitely trust this job to a professional.

Once the larger pieces of vinyl are peeled away, the process then calls for removing the smaller pieces. This involves the use of a squeegee and/or heat. The final part of the process is removing the sticky residue, which requires the use of special chemical removers. Needless to say, all of this should be left to professionals, who do this on a routine basis. The cost to have the wrap removed is usually based on the length of time the graphics have been on the vehicle and the type of wrap material originally used.

Some businesses change their vehicle graphics according to the seasons, while others leave them for the lifetime of the vinyl (or the vehicle). Removing the graphics is not an extraordinary undertaking, but should be considered carefully, and in light of the need for professional help.
